So you’ve landed on our page and you’ve made it to the news section- Welcome!
So here’s our story (shortened for your patience and reading pleasure)…
Once upon a time, a while after the Balayage craze first graced the heads of every worshipped celebrity in stardom, I wanted a piece of the action. I knew what I wanted, but wasn’t sure where to go in order to get it.
I googled… ‘Balayage Salon Enfield’ and all that came up were a bunch of random salons over 5 miles away with no relevance to what I wanted (I mean chiropodists?! Really?!).
I Facebook searched… I got posts for Balayage, as far as Canada and a whole bunch of randomness in between.
I Instagram searched… When #balayageenfield failed to bring up a single post, I knew it was beyond reasonable to expect that I could actually find a salon which offered what I wanted, where I wanted it with ease.
Weeks later, after a recommendation from a friend; I went to a local(ish) salon and had it done. I left disappointed, and relayed the #hairfail to the original recommender. She seemed surprised; “they’re really nice in there”.
That was when is when it clicked– I don’t just want nice conversations, a friendly smile and my name remembered; colouring hair (like most procedures offered in the industry) is a technical procedure and good-willed niceties will not improve the result (which I will be disappointingly ashamed of like a hat my nan had knitted for me).
In a society that compares everything we spend our money or time on, why on earth are we not comparing our hair and beauty services? Why do I feel like I’d be snarled at or frogmarched out of a salon if I asked to see examples of their work prior to them doing it to me?! We trust people with our appearance and cross our fingers that we get what we want. It sounds melodramatic I know, but it’s 2017 and we all know the importance of confidence.
So out of pure frustration, Salon Showcase was born – an online professional search and compare tool for you all, and a chance for the professionals to gain your trust by actually showing you what they’re capable of (prior to you sat quivering with apprehension before them).
Hair grows, spray tans fade, nails can be changed, lash extensions removed etc- but at whose expense? Your time, your money and your trust! Now you can choose wisely (and efficiently) by browsing the portfolios of salons or mobile professionals in your area at the click of a button. You can contact them directly and you can leave your feedback. Research; it would seem, is the new spontaneous!
You’re welcome ; ) xoxo
